This afternoon of Scandinavian favourites features Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2 as its stirring and triumphant conclusion. The concert opens with Grieg’s incidental music from Peer Gynt with the two suites including both the beautiful Morning Mood and the terrifying In the Hall of the Mountain King.

In between is a rarer work as soloist Anna Wolstenholme performs Carl Nielsen’s virtuosic Flute Concerto, a favourite piece of the Orchestra’s Danish conductor, Claus Efland.

The Bardi welcomes international, star soloist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason to perform with the Orchestra in Mozart’s ever-popular Piano Concerto No. 23. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to see a member of the world-famous musical family perform at De Montfort Hall with a Leicester-based orchestra.

The second half features the first of Mahler’s large-scale, orchestral masterpieces, his Symphony No.1 Titan.
