Built in 1913, De Montfort Hall is a grade two listed concert hall, and the premier live performance venue for Leicester and Leicestershire.

The hall presents a wide-ranging programme of performances which include live music, comedy, family shows, dance, classical concerts, and corporate/graduation presentations.

Auditorium
The auditorium is a flexible space which operates in three main formats with varying stage setups, from black box to concert hall.

Saleable Capacities:
Standing 2,096 (1,200 standing downstairs)
Tiered 1,470 – 1,590 (depending on stage format)
Half tiered/half standing 1,596 (400 standing downstairs)

Parking and location
Limited on-site parking is available for production vehicles and event organisers. We have space
and power to accommodate three articulated lorries and two coaches at any one time.

De Montfort Hall is located on the edge of Leicester city centre and has excellent transport connections. It is just a 10-minute walk from the railway station and within easy reach of both the M1 and M69.

Dressing rooms
We have seven dressing rooms of various sizes located across two floors. Each comes with Wi Fi, stage video relay, a TV, and a fridge.

Additional backstage areas/rooms
The backstage facilities also include a green room, company office and fully equipped kitchen/facilities for crew catering.

Technical information
The in-house technical team at De Montfort Hall offers a range of re-chargeable services.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Full intelligent lighting rig comprising Mythos and Robe Spiders plus a host of generic fixtures, over 200 ways of dimming and a Grand MA2 desk.
  • Concert ready D&B Q1 sound system with Yamaha CL5 FOH and M7 on monitors.
  • Motorised flying bars that can be enhanced with our large stock of trussing.
  • Flat load in access from two loading bays with enough power to meet your every need.
  • Two grand pianos – Fazioli and Steinway.

To discuss your hire requirements in further detail please email dmh-hire-enquiries@leicester.gov.uk, stating the nature of the event, date/s you wish to hire the hall and any additional information that may be of use.

Please note, due to the demands and operation of our public event programme, unfortunately we are unable to accept bookings for parties, weddings, conferences, or religious events.
