Philharmonia 2017/2018 Brochure - page 12

Orchestra Unwrapped
is a series of specially-tailored live concerts
by the Philharmonia Orchestra for children aged 7-11 at De
Montfort Hall, Leicester. Since 2011, over 18,000 of Leicester’s
schoolchildren have had the opportunity to enjoy and learn about
music locally, whatever their background. Presented by music
education specialist Paul Rissmann, the concerts include a varied
programme designed to introduce the orchestra, its instruments
and repertoire in a fun, interactive and accessible way.
Teacher training sessions prior to each concert give guidance
on how to enhance the concert visit via pre- and post-concert
classroom exercises. Online digital resources provide teachers
and pupils with further opportunities to learn and explore.
