SIBELIUS Symphony No. 2 in D major

This afternoon of Scandinavian favourites features Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2 as its stirring and triumphant conclusion. The concert opens with Grieg’s incidental music from Peer Gynt with the two suites including both the beautiful Morning Mood and the terrifying In the Hall of the Mountain King.

In between is a rarer work as soloist Anna Wolstenholme performs Carl Nielsen’s virtuosic Flute Concerto, a favourite piece of the Orchestra’s Danish conductor, Claus Efland.
