Literature at Lunchtime

Boris Pasternak Dr Zhivago
With Dr Jane Mackay

This world famous novel was banned in Russia and Pasternak was forced to refuse the Nobel Prize in 1958, two years before his death. His artistry produces one of the most beautiful books on the nature of poetry. Zhivago’s poetic perspective is Pasternak’s own of course, and his passionate resistance to tyranny sweeps us up into a Russian world at a time when the price of conscience could be unbearable.
