The main work in the first concert of the new Bardi season is Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Symphony No.5. It was premiered in 1943 during the dark days of World War 2 and yet is one of the composer’s most pastoral works. Young British pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason performs Schumann’s romantic Piano Concerto with Dvorak’s vibrant Carnival Overture opening proceedings.
