Andris Nelsons conductor
Hélène Grimaud piano

BRAHMS Piano Concerto No. 2
BRAHMS Symphony No. 4

This concert sees the Philharmonia’s Brahms Cycle come to Leicester. Brahms humorously referred to his Fourth Symphony as no more than ‘a few entr’actes and polkas which I happened to have lying about’, while he affectionately dedicated his Second Piano Concerto to his childhood piano teacher, tonight played by the elegant tour de force of the piano, Hélène Grimaud, renowned for her sheer technical brilliance and praised by the LA Times for her pure, “crystalline tone”.
