DUKAS The Sorcerer's Apprentice
TCHAIKOVSKY Variations on a Rococo Theme
PROKOFIEV Suite, Cinderella

This concert revolves around a theme of fairy-tales and fantasy, from Dukas’s tale of a wayward sorcerer’s apprentice to Prokofiev’s Cinderella Suite, which captures the enchanted world of Cinderella, her Fairy Godmother and those fateful 12 chimes at midnight.  Between these works, Dutch cellist Pieter Wispelwey showcases Tchaikovsky’s only major work for cello.

“[Wispelwey] not only sings, he speaks and whispers with his instrument.” BBC Music Magazine, September 2013
