Elgar's unsurpassably beautiful Cello Concerto composed in 1919 as a lament to a lost world. David Cohen will be the soloist. Elgar's rarely-heard symphonic prelude Polonia, based on Polish national tunes and themes by Chopin and Paderewski will open the concert which concludes with Saint-Saens rousing and inspirational Organ Symphony (no 3).
