The Philharmonia Orchestra is mounting the UK’s most significant commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the death of Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958). Under artistic advisor Michael Kennedy and conductor Richard Hickox the series includes choral works and a complete symphony cycle. The series gets underway in Leicester with a multimedia afternoon of music and lectures examining the composer’s contribution to English music.
"In the next world I shan't be doing music, with all the striving and disappointments, I shall be being it" Ralph Vaughan Williams
