BBC Test Match Special commentator Henry Blofeld is undoubtedly the current “voice of cricket” and he continues to be one of the best loved characters in the game.

“Blowers”, as he is affectionately known, is as famous for his musings on pigeons, planes, double decker buses, tea ladies, cakes and his catchphrase ‘My dear old thing’ as he is for his cricket commentary.

His side-splitting one man show is a quintessentially British affair in which “Blowers” trawls through his extraordinary life.  He was brought up in the idyllic Norfolk countryside amongst a vibrantly eccentric Edwardian household, and later educated at Eton and Cambridge. He dropped out to pursue a brief career in finance, before beginning his chequered career in journalism and later broadcasting.

Along the way he has encountered many hilarious characters, all of whom get a mention – from Noel Coward and Ian Fleming to Nigel Havers and Boris Johnson, all told with his well known self deprecatory humour.
